How can you tell if Euro notes are fake?
The security thread is em bedded in the banknote paper. Hold the banknote against the light – the thread will appear as a dark stripe. The word “EURO” and the value (“100”) can be seen in tiny letters on the stripe. Tilt the banknote – the hologram image will change between the value and a window or doorway.

Can I still use 500 euro note in Europe?
The €500 banknote was not included in the Europa series and has not been issued since 27 April 2019. Like all denominations of euro banknotes, the €500 note will always retain its value and can be exchanged at any national central bank in the euro area at any time.
What do 500 euros look like?

The five-hundred-euro note measures 160 mm (6.3 in) × 82 mm (3.2 in). It has a purple color scheme. Each denomination of Euro bank notes depicts bridges and arches/doorways in a different historical European style; the five-hundred-euro note shows Modern architecture (around the 20th century).

The note, dated 1936, is only the second of its kind known to exist, and the first one to be put up for sale. Auction house Noonans said £500 notes were only ever issued at three branches of the Bank of England – London, Liverpool and Leeds. It will be sold in a sale of rare banknotes on 1 and 2 March.
